Total Group understands the importance our clients place on rectifying maintenance issues quickly, and with as little disruption as possible. We also understand that with a renewed focus on safety in the workplace that our clients also want to ensure the safety of the businesses staff and customers.

For these reasons, Total Group has implemented a Safety Management System that drives every aspect of our business. The way Total Group chooses sub-contractors and the way we record both the sub-contractors details and the safety documents for every job we do gives our clients assurance that Maintenance Group ‘s contractors understand their safety obligations and are planning to work safely on every Total Group job.

All sub-contractor, prior to performing any work for Total Group are required to complete a Total Group Health and Safety pre-qualification questionnaire, and if they meet our required standards, complete a Total Group induction course. All Total Group sub-contractors are required to perform a hazard ID when arriving on-site and a safe-work method statement for the tasks they perform.

On-going compliance is monitored via periodic reviews and spot checks to ensure our H&S standards are being maintained.

In addition, all Total Group sub-contractors are background checked and security cleared

We adopt health, safety and welfare as fundamental objectives on-site and company-wide. We are a Site Safe registered company and all employees, other than office admin, are Site Safe certified. We comply with all legislative requirements and hold an ACC secondary accreditation.

Our on-site policy is to:

  • Establish and maintain a safe place of work, a safe environment and safe equipment
  • Establish and insist that safe work methods be practised at all times and that proper materials are used
  • Provide supervision and training as required
  • Ensure employees, contractors and visitors understand and accept their responsibility to promote a safe environment
  • Require accurate reporting and recording of all health and safety processes

Total Group has developed, implemented and will continuously review an effective Safety System which aims to achieve the company’s target of zero harm.
To this end, Total Group are committed to:

  • Ensuring all Managers, Employees, Contractors and Visitors are aware of their responsibilities in relation to safety and holding them accountable for providing and/or maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Complying with all relevant health and safety Acts and Regulations including applicable Standards and Codes of Practice so far as is reasonably practicable to do so.
  • Adopting a proactive risk management approach to workplace health and safety as an integral part of overall business operations.
  • Providing and maintaining safe systems of work including premises, equipment and substances that are safe and without risks to health.
  • Consulting with and involving employees in decisions impacting on their health and safety.
  • Providing relevant information, instruction, training and supervision as may be necessary to enable employees, contractors and visitors to work in a manner which will minimise risk of injury or ill health.
  • Establishing and reviewing measurable objectives and targets to ensure continued improvement aimed at elimination of work-related injury and illness.
